WhiteGirl!

Linda and Erica are having lunch at an Applebee’s in central El Pas. Linda gives off the impression of a white female and Erica looks more Hispanic of the two.

Hostess:  Your booth is this way ladies please follow me.

She sits them in their booth.

Hostess: Your waiter will be with you ladies shortly.

Linda: So have you been here before?

Erica: No, but my husband has and he said that she shrimp bowl was very good. So I think I’m going to try that. What about you?

Linda: Uhm I don’t know girl, this all looks so good I think Imma just have me the steak with some fries!

Erica: Girl I wish I can eat like you!

Linda: No girl I be wanting hips like you!

An African American waitress see’s the two ladies and turns around quickly and tells Lupe to go and take their order.

Lupe walks to the table and begins the conversation only talking with Erica.

Lupe: hola mi nombre es Lupe y yo seré su camarera para hoy. ¿Qué puedo empezar con señora?

Erica: hola. Me gustaría empezar con un poco de agua y también me gustaría probar el plato de camarones.

Lupe: bueno. y ¿cuál sería su amigo como a fin de

Erica: que quiere probar su carne y..

She asks Linda what she would like to drink

Linda: A Dr. Pepper please.

Lupe takes the menu’s from both of them and says she’ll be right out with their order.

Linda: Was it me or was that waitress only talking to and in Spanish?

Erica: I have no idea, I didn’t really notice.

Linda: Hmm maybe I’m just imagining things.

Erica: So did you hear?

Linda: Hear what?

Erica: I’m going to get promoted and I might finally have my own office!

Linda: aah I’m so excited for you!

Gets up and runs around the table to give Erica a big hug.

Erica: thank you girl! Finally after eight years of working on the lower floor I finally get to move and be up on the same floor as you!

Linda: We gonna have sooo much fun girl!.

Lupe comes back to the table with their drinks and sets them on the table

Lupe: la comida será en breve

But only talking to Linda.

Erica: thank you!

Lupe gives a fake snobby smile and walks away.

Linda: okay maybe now I notice what you mean..

Erica: Nah I was over exaggerating. Just let it go.

Linda: so when will you be moving up?

Erica: maybe within three weeks! That’s if I get promoted

Lupe comes to the table with their food and serves it but still doesn’t pay no attention to Erica.

Erica: thank you it looks great.

Lupe: Te nada.

Lupe walks away

Linda and Erica finish enjoying their food and Lupe comes back to gives the check to Linda.

Erica tells Linda

Erica: I’ll pay up fronts so you can go and get the car.

Erica walks up to Lupe at the front desk gives her the money and only leaves her a 50 cent tip and before walking out the door says..

Erica: Muchas gracias. La comida estuvo muy buena, se lo agradesco.

Erica gives her a smerk and walks out the restaurant.
